Album Release 22nd January 2017 ‘From Home’ by Pete Branscombe
Slough-born Pete Branscombe is a songwriter and guitarist now based in Tokyo Japan with a wide range of interests and influences. His aim is always to make unique music. Consequently, his music is not easy to categorise in terms of genre. Originally fuelled by the passion of punk and the melodic and harmonic sensibilities of the Beatles, his broad musical influences include artists such as Can, Basil Kirchin, Ennio Morricone, the Isley Brothers, Stereolab, Broadcast, Duke Ellington, and many, many others.
In 2016, his songs attracted the attention of record label SS4QT, who subsequently released two EPs by Branscombe in 2017 and will be releasing his forthcoming album, From Home, on the 22nd of January 2018. Craig Edwards, head of talent at SS4QT, said “I was attracted to Pete’s lyrics at first, but the beauty of his songwriting soon shone through; signing Pete was a no-brainer for us. We are really happy with From Home – it’s a beautiful collection of songs”.
Branscombe explained that From Home was written during a self-imposed song a month experiment that SS4QT picked up on through Soundcloud. “The songs on the album range from the political to the personal – all aspects of life, apart from the washing-up. Well it never hurt Bob Dylan, did it?”
